First dates are tryouts of sorts. They typically allow two people to discover whether they’d like for a second date to take place or not. The location of a first date is important. It should be a place that allows for conversation, a space that feels comfortable for both parties. After all, it’s much too early in the game for that. If you close the place down, it’s a sure bet there’s a little something there, and you can move on to another location for a drink.

Sort of like going for coffee, only colder and sweeter, an ice cream date can be as short or long as you like it. If things aren’t going so well, simply gobble up your cone or sundae and bid adieux. If things go well, take a stroll through Cambridge afterward.
A first date at a zoo is a fun idea. Check out Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and learn if your date likes animals, has a sense of adventure and is a kid at heart. If you strike out on all three, don’t even think of going on a second date.
Create some art on your first date and enjoy a beer or some wine, too. If sitting across from one another over coffee is a bit too intimidating, visit the Paint Bar.
