Yankee Homecoming

Welcome to Yankee Homecoming 2018!  I am honored to serve as the General Chairperson for this year's festival.   My ties to Newburyport go back to 1990 when I first moved to this beautiful city.  Having worked and lived here with my family for many years, we have enjoyed all that Newburyport has to offer – boating on the Merrimack River, the beautiful beaches of Plum Island, local parks, shops, restaurants and everything in between.  Without a doubt, the highlight of every summer has been Yankee Homecoming.

The theme for this year's Yankee Homecoming is "Celebrate  Seaport  Pride"

It is my hope to encompass the rich maritime history, charm and recreational offerings of this beautiful port city, while shining a light on the community pride and commitment so many Newburyport residents share.  I look forward to bringing both  "old and new" together so that residents, our neighboring towns and visitors alike will feel the same sense of community I cherish, and help Yankee Homecoming grow in the years to come.

From July 28th through August 5th there are numerous activities organized for all to enjoy.  Friends and families will gather for the Waterfront Concerts nightly along the Merrimack River, Family Day at Maudslay Park, Olde Fashioned Sunday, Kayak & Paddle Board Race, Brewfest Fundraiser, Art and Craft Shows, Kids Talent Show and of course Fireworks and the legendary Parade.  Special events celebrating Newburyport's history have grown to include guided walks of the old burying grounds, tours of historic homes and explorations of the city's maritime heritage, celebrating the distinction of being named the birthplace of the United States Coast Guard.
