About Us:

Established in 2009, WICF’s annual festival has established an international reputation for world-class comedy from headliners like Wanda Sykes, Tig Notaro, Jane Lynch, Lily Tomlin, and Maria Bamford, to upcoming comedians who go on to perform in television and film. Don’t miss this unique chance to see the typical male to female ratio flipped at a venues ranging from 40-seat intimate cabarets to our 1,200-seat headlining theater. Over 200 performers (80% women) and thousands of audience members flock to historic Boston each spring to participate in and watch the Women in Comedy Festival.

We feature a wide variety of genre and styles, including improv, musical comedy, sketch, stand up, storytelling, and now film, at our fast-growing film festival, all over a five-day (and night) celebration each spring. Our 2018 festival took place from April 19th-April 22nd all over Greater Boston, MA.

We also feature workshops for all levels of students, all open to the public. Whether you’re a professional comedian or someone who has never done comedy but would like to try it out, we’ve go a workshop for you. Classes are taught by professional comedians, writers, and industry experts. Affordable and open to the public, they’re a great way to get a taste for what doing comedy is all about.

We also host free panels, open to the public, which feature interactive interviews and Q&A’s with many of our headliners. Past panels have included Sasheer Zamata, Rachel Dratch, Kristen Schaal, Jackie Kashian, Edie McClurg, Rita Rudner, Aparna Nancherla, Judy Gold, Erin Jackson, Wendy Liebman, Nicole Byer, and many more.
