Habitat Education Center and Wildlife Sanctuary
On Belmont Hill, just 6 miles northwest of downtown Boston, lies Habitat, an 93-acre urban oasis that has been devoted to environmental education since 1970. Over 2.5 miles of gentle trails wind through deciduous and evergreen forests, across meadows, around two ponds, and along a wetland containing a vernal pool. The visitor center is a brick Georgian-style mansion where monthly art exhibits can be viewed. Outside, there’s a pleasing and calming formal garden. The building and gardens can be reserved on weekends for weddings and other events.
Great trails, a nice calm location with many trees. The visitor center is educational with clean restrooms.
My daughter is participating in a homeschool naturalist program. She loves the program - both the indoor and outdoor activities. Today they were dissecting owl scat to find the bones, teeth , fur and claws of the animals that the owl ate.
Had our wedding there, absolutely stunning venue and super helpful beyond measure
Great place to take a peaceful walk. Also hosted my daughter's Birthday here and it was a great experience.
Many programs for all ages, deaf/blind/accessible paths and well kept grounds and staff
