Celebrating Margaret!
Margaret McCormick, our much-loved Library Director, will be stepping down from her position in January, and to celebrate her many years of dedication to our library community, we are offering the opportunity for patrons to create a page in a memory book that will be given to Margaret in January.

Supplies will be available at the library beginning the week of December 5. You can be as creative as you want and either complete the page at the library or at home. Sample pages will be available to give you some ideas, but don't be limited! You can use your own paper or take one of the sheets of 8.5x11 cardstock which are provided. If a whole sheet of paper is larger than you need, another option is to use a half or a quarter sheet. We ask that if you are using a partial sheet, please use non-cardstock paper so we can mount these notes on a piece of cardstock. The pages will be put into plastic sleeves and then into the scrapbook style memory book.

Drawings, photographs, collages are all possible; we trust that you will use your imagination! We encourage all ages to participate, and materials can be crayons to ink to watercolors!

If you are not able to get to the library, you can use any sheet of 8.5x11 paper or smaller and create your message and mail it to us. Email of a .pdf is also a possibility. We will print it here in Woods Hole.

If you have any questions, feel free to call Marianne Fricke at 617-803-9075, or email at marianne.scholin.fricke@gmail.com.

Holiday Film: Remember the Night
Wednesday, December 21
2:00 PM

Screen legends Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray star in the heartwarming holiday classic Remember the Night (1940). Lee Leander (Stanwyck) is a petty shoplifter on trial for swiping an expensive bracelet from a local jewelry store. When her trial is postponed until after New Year's, sympathetic Assistant District Attorney John Sargent (MacMurray) bails her out of jail. Together, they find themselves falling in love when he invites her to his family's home for the holidays where she discovers the warmth and love she's never had but always wanted. Featuring a wonderful supporting cast (Beulah Bondi, Sterling Holloway and Elizabeth Patterson), stylish costumes by Edith Head, a charming script by Preston Sturges, and superb direction by Mitchell Leisen, Remember the Night (1940) is a timeless holiday favorite that can be enjoyed every season.

Family Holiday Film: A Child's Christmas in Wales
Wednesday, December 21
4:30 PM
We're keeping our classic holiday films rolling on Wednesday, December 21 with an after-school family screening of A Child's Christmas in Wales. This film, released in 1987 is an adaptation of Dylan Thomas' classic poem about Christmastime in a small Welsh town. A grandfather, stirred by his beloved grandson's anticipation of the holiday, takes a lyrical journey back to his own boyhood Christmases in a small Welsh village. Through the eyes of a child, the old man describes his childhood remembrances, bringing the days of the past back to life.

Knitting/Crochet Group

Beginning on Thursday, November 17, the group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. Stay for the entire time, or just stop by for a few stitches. Fiber artists of all experience levels and disciplines are welcome to join in!

Mark your calendars!
