Wilmington Memorial Library Weekly News And Events - September 10, 2022

From: Wilmington Memorial Library
September 13, 2022

As the Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library celebrates its 25th Anniversary on September 25, 2022, I want to acknowledge the many improvements that would not have been possible without the support of the Friends. Over the years, the Friends have provided financial support for projects like our interior makeover, wonderful library events for all ages, and many new initiatives such as the Peggy Kane Reading Garden and the StoryWalk® at Rotary Park.

What makes the Friends so special is the people who have dedicated so much time over the years and worked tirelessly to see the organization grow to what it is today. The first President of the Friends of the Library, Karen Campbell, helped launch the organization in 1997. She did yeoman’s work running the Friends annual book sale and subsequently helped transition this annual event to the Book Store Next Door. Following Karen, six presidents served in this role - Eileen MacDougall, Jim Lemay, Robert Hayes, Marilyn Lamson, Peggy Kane and our current President, Ann St. Onge. There are a number of Friends members who have been part of the organization since its inception and have contributed their time and talent reflecting a steadfast dedication and love of the library.

In celebration of this milestone anniversary, I encourage you become a member of the Friends of the Library and help us continue to make a good library a great library!
