Wilmington Memorial Library : May is Mental Health Awareness Month

From: Wilmington Memorial Library
May 4, 2023

Mental Health Awareness Month was first recognized in the United States in 1949. It was founded by Mental Health America, an organization that raises awareness and educates the public about mental illness, including conditions like depression, anxiety, OCD, and schizophrenia, and to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Raising awareness around the trauma and societal impact that mental illness can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities as a whole is extremely important. Below is a list of media recommendations, resources, and upcoming programs at WML.
