As guitar soloist and composer, Dr. José Manuel Lezcano has captivated audiences on four continents. In programs of standard repertoire, Hispano-American composers, and original works, he has appeared in major venues and festivals, including Carnegie Recital Hall, the NYC North-South Consonance Series, Cuba, Trinidad & Tobago, Spain, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, China, Germany, and the Czech Republic as recitalist and concerto soloist. Click here to register.

Jane Healey will be at Tufts Library to talk about her latest historical fiction book, Goodnight from Paris, published in March 2023. For those interested, signed copies of Goodnight from Paris will be available for purchase after the event courtesy of Haley Booksellers.

About the Book: In Nazi-occupied France, an American film star takes on the most dangerous role of her life in a gripping novel about loyalty and resistance, inspired by a true story.

Michelle Marchetti Coughlin will speak about “The Complex Worlds of Colonial Women.” Ms. Coughlin is a historian of early American women and the author of One Colonial Women's World: The Life and Writings of Mehetabel Chandler Coit and Penelope Winslow, Plymouth Colony First Lady: Re-Imagining a Life. She serves on the board of the Abigail Adams Birthplace and as Museum Administrator of Boston’s Gibson House Museum, and is a guest scholar for New England Beginnings, a partnership that promotes the exploration of the cultures that shaped early New England. Registration required

Historic Character Portrayal: Laura Rocklyn as

Maria Weston Chapman

First person historical interpreter, Laura Rocklyn, who writes and performs one-woman historic character portrayals, will present her interpretation of Maria Weston Chapman. Chapman, born July 25, 1806 in Weymouth, was  an American abolitionist who was the principal lieutenant of the radical antislavery leader William Lloyd Garrison.

Birdhouse Project

 Come hear Nima and Mina Yadollahpour talk about their building and entrepreneurial project! Spying a robin’s nest in her backyard in Weymouth, Mina Yadollahpour asked her father, Nima, about building a birdhouse to protect the eggs. When the pandemic hit, the two, looking for a project to occupy their time, returned to the idea. A residential architect by trade, Nima employed his skills to design some chic, modern birdhouses with help from his daughter, now 12 years old. They handcrafted the houses from teak plywood, and Mina named the project Chirp

A heartwarming comedy set during the WWII London Blitz. Meet Mrs. Henderson – an upper-class British woman - who bravely, hilariously, keeps one little theater alive in a very unique way. Her new friend, Margaret Rutherford, comes to visit, and together they discuss matters of the heart and how to make dreams come true. Though confronting difficult times, all is proven that all you really need in life is a lot of laughter and a good friend!
