Art Appreciation: Vincent Van Gogh

Tuesday, November 29, 10:00-11:00 on Zoom

Van Gogh’s life is one of the most dramatic, romantic, and tragic stories in all of art history. His paintings are passionate, beautiful and they succeed in sharing with us, briefly, the experience of his madness. His career was very short but his gifts and his influence very great. Join us for a look at his work and the brief but brilliant flame that was his life. Nothing is stranger than the truth as the museum comes to you in this engaging presentation by Jane Blair, founder of ArtMatters, an art awareness and education organization. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.

NEW Bridge Group

Weekly on Tuesdays, 10:00-12:30 at the COA

We invite all who are interested in playing bridge to join our new Bridge Group. All levels are welcome, as Bridge is a complicated game and we hope to learn from one another. Depending on the number of players, the group can decide if it wishes to play rubber bridge or duplicate. Drop-in is welcome.

Museum of Fine Arts: LIFE Magazine & the Power of Photography Exhibition

Wednesday, November 30, 9:30-3:15

There are still 2 seats left on our upcoming trip to the MFA! Life magazine photographers bore witness to some of the most defining moments of the last 100 years—shaping the way many Americans experienced, perceived, and remembered these events. “Life Magazine and the Power of Photography” offers a revealing look at the collaborative processes behind many of Life’s most recognizable, beloved, and controversial images and photo essays, while incorporating the voices of contemporary artists and their critical reflections on photojournalism. The van will depart the MFA at 2:30, allowing time to visit other exhibitions or to grab lunch at the museum. Cost: $20, includes transportation, discounted entry to this exhibit and general admission to explore the full museum. Call the COA for availability: 781-786-628.
