Library eNewsletter May, 2022

We are thrilled to announce the first-ever Watertown Pride Extravaganza scheduled for Saturday, 6/4 in Saltonstall Park. Mark your calendar, plan your outfit!
Jointly hosted by WFPL and the Watertown Public Arts & Culture Committee, the Watertown Pride Extravaganza will be an inclusive, all-ages event that celebrates and advocates for our LGBTQIA+ communities. By coming together, we will strengthen our ties and highlight the vibrant, diverse groups within our city, which contribute to the well-being of all. Learn more: watertownlib.org/pride

MAY IN THE WFPL ART GALLERY:  Lisa Piel, Mixed Media
In Mottainai:Too Good to Waste, Lisa Piel recreates the look of northern Japanese boro — garments and bedclothes artfully mended during harsh economic times when fabric was readily available to royalty, but not to commoners. To stay warm in the colder climates, working families preserved their everyday items by patching them with tiny scraps, often enhancing them with delicate white sashiko embroidery.
