Town Of Weston - Town Hall Happenings : November 11-11-2022

From: Town Of Weston
November 13, 2022

Greetings and welcome to today’s Town Hall Happenings!

Opening Note

Today is Veteran’s Day and I hope you can join us at 11:11 at Town Hall to honor our Veterans. While Veterans Day is only once a year, I urge everyone to show your gratitude every day for their service. President Barack Obama sums it up nicely:  "It's about how we treat our veterans every single day of the year. It's about making sure they have the care they need and the benefits that they've earned when they come home. It's about serving all of you as well as you've served the United States of America."

Veterans Day Ceremony
All are invited to the Veteran's Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11th at 11:11 am at the Town Hall Memorial Garden near the Library. The program includes:

-Welcoming remarks

-Wreath Presentation by Weston High School American Heroes Club

-WesTones singing the National Anthem

-Remembrance Remarks and Prayer

-First Selectwoman Sam Nestor's Greeting and Remarks

-Recognition of participants and volunteers

Election Recap
Thank you to the Registrar of Voters and their team who flawlessly administered the mid-term elections. Turnout was excellent with nearly 67% of eligible voters participating! Congrats to all the winners and deep appreciation to all those who ran for office. Free Wifi Hotspot now available on the municipal campus!
Altice has finished installing free Wi-Fi hotspots on the Town Hall and Library buildings.  That means that you should be able to get free internet.  To access the service from your device, select the network entitled “optimumwifi-Emergency.” Optimum will then ask you to accept its access terms of use.  After that, you will be connected to the internet for 60 minutes.   Repeat the process as needed.  The Town has paid for this service to be installed using federal ARPA grant dollars. Going forward, there will be no charge to users or the Town.

A Mid-Summer Nights Dream
Weston High School's Company, will bring the woodland fairy magic of Shakespeare’s comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream to life on stage November 11th -13th!  Join the audience of the Athenian court as they prepare for Theseus (June Skodis, ‘23) and Hippolyta’s (Mattie Lawler, ‘23) wedding, but tread lightly! You might find yourself whisked into the magic of the mischievous fairy court, as you run away with unrequited lovers Hermia (Dylan Schwartz, ‘24), Lysander (Billy Stammer, ‘24), Helena (Kennedy Boehme, ‘23), and Demetrius (Brian Lombardi ‘23).  Witness the well-meaning, but impish fairy, Puck (Riley Dize, ‘24), wreak havoc on the lovers in the woods, while a troupe of merry actors (Grace Forte, ‘24; Paige Latham, ‘25;  Lily Moskoff, ‘26; Bill Austin, ‘25; Alyssa Pignataro ‘24; Avery MacRae ‘25) stumble through a hilarious rendition of a play-within-a-play to entertain all in a final happily-mostly-after!  Steal away from thine own company for a while to sort out the magical mischief woven by The Bard on Friday, November 11th at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12th and Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 p.m.   Visit www.whscompany.com for tickets.
