Old Glory: Understanding America’s Enduring Symbol
Online, Tuesday, June 14th 2:00 p.m. 

This presentation begins with a brief look at how flags became identifying symbols in the course of human history. We will then focus on the U.S. flag as we delve into the following questions: How and why did American flags come into existence? Who created the U.S. flag (i.e., “the Stars & Stripes”)? How and why did Old Glory change over the centuries? What are the present controversies about the U.S. flag?

Red Sox Game Day Lunch and Watch Party
Thursday, June 16th at 12:00 p.m.

We will gather together to cheer on the Boston Red Sox as they welcome the Oakland Athletics at Fenway. The excitement begins with lunch at noon and the game shown on the big screen at 1:10 p.m. We will watch the game, enjoy our favorite ballpark snacks and cheer them on! Let’s get in the baseball spirit and Go Red Sox! Special thanks goes to the Friends of Wellesley Council on Aging for generously sponsoring this event.  Wellelsey residents only for lunch and open to all for game and snacks at 1:10 p.m.
