Chief Steven A. Skory reports that the Wakefield Police Department has charged a Burlington man and is investigating after shots were fired at a parked car on Friday morning.

As a result of a diligent investigation by Wakefield police officers, ABDUL MOHEEN FAISAL, AGE 25, OF BURLINGTON was arrested and charged with:

-Shooting within 500 Feet of a Dwelling

-Malicious Destruction of Property

-Threatening to Commit a Crime

Wakefield Police also recovered a firearm, and Chief Skory would like to stress that there is no active danger to the community.

On Friday, January 27, 2023, at 9:07 a.m., Wakefield Police were called to a location on Crescent Hill for a report of shots fired into a car parked in the driveway. The 911 calltaker received a detailed description of a suspect and vehicle seen leaving the area. Minutes later, a Wakefield Police officer working a paid construction detail observed a vehicle matching the description given. The officer made a traffic stop, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. A semi-automatic handgun was recovered and seized by Wakefield Police.

"This is a good example of strong internal communications, as the emergency calltaker was able to relay accurate, timely information to officers in the field, resulting in the rapid arrest of an armed suspect," Chief Skory said.

The incident and possible motive for the shooting remain under investigation.  The suspect will likely be arraigned Friday at Malden District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
