Town of Wakefield - Compost Your Pumpkins And Recycle Candy Wrappers At Local Elementary Schools

From: Town of Wakefield
November 3, 2022

Give your pumpkin (and candy wrappers) a second life when our elementary schools host their annual Pumpkin Drop event the morning of November 9. The Wakefield Environmental Sustainability Committee, in partnership with Black Earth Compost, will have collection tarps at the Woodville, Dolbeare, Walton, and Greenwood Schools. Pumpkins that have glitter, plastic/googly eyes, candles or wax on or in them cannot be composted (water-based paint is ok).

As you eat up all the goodies from last night, save the wrappers—there will also be special candy wrapper-recycling boxes at this event. Can’t make it? The Sustainability Committee, will have a wrapper-recycling box at Town Hall beginning November 9.
