Town Of Southborough Receives Grant Award For Analysis Of Regional Local Public Health Services

From: Town Of Southborough
November 21, 2022

The Town of Southborough, in conjunction with the Southborough Board of Health, is pleased to announce a grant award in the amount of $55,000 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Town of Southborough grant award was obtained through the state's Community Compact Best Practices program.
The Community Compact is a voluntary, mutual agreement entered into between the Baker-Polito Administration and individual cities and towns of the Commonwealth. In a Community Compact, a community will agree to implement at least one best practice that they selected. The community's chosen best practice(s) will be reviewed to ensure that the best practice(s) chosen are unique to the municipality and reflect needed areas of improvement. The Compact also articulates the commitments the Commonwealth will make on behalf of all communities.
This funding will allow Southborough to hire a consultant to work with our town, in addition to the towns of Northborough and Boylston to provide recommendations on efficient organizational structures and effective use of our current resources. As part of this process, the Town wishes to build on the Public Health Excellence (PHE) for Shared Services Program grant previously awarded and will utilize the data gathered in the capacity assessment survey, which is due early 2023. This process will assist the local Boards of Health in planning for enhanced public health services for residents by heightening our resource sharing arrangements across jurisdictions.
