Town Of Shirley : 33rd Annual Scouting For Food

From: Town Of Shirley
November 3, 2022

Once again this year, the Scouts Of Shirley have undertaken a "Good Deed." Each scouting unit in town will help to collect food for distribution to those in need. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Venture Scouts, sports teams, and students from Shirley and neighboring towns, will cooperate in the collection campaign. The food gathered will be delivered to the "Loaves and Fishes" area food bank. This food bank is open to all.

All non-perishable foodstuffs are welcome. High protein items such as tuna fish, peanut butter, canned stew, and chili are especially desirable, but canned soup, juice, fruits or vegetables, rice, pasta, baby food, diapers, personal grooming products, and condiments are also in demand. Please avoid glass jars since they break too easily.

Please fill your bag with as many or as few items as you wish. Give as little or as much as you can comfortably spare. All contributions, whatever the size, are equally welcome.

The Scouts will be picking up your bag on November 13th from 1 to 5 PM. If this is not convenient, you can drop off your bag at the Shirley Fire Station.

You can help us on pick-up day, by placing your donation outside, in a visible location near the street if possible. If it is raining or rain is forecast, please place your Scout food bag inside a covered waterproof plastic bag.

If you have any questions, or need extra bags or a special pick-up, call Jim McGrath (508-889-1782), Jen Colby (339-927-5258), Sara Balmos (978-429-0291) or Joyce Reischutz (978-425-2251 or 978-263-3197).

With sincere thanks, All the Scouts of Shirley
