COVID-19 Vaccine for Kids Under 5 - Information and Updates
The FDA authorized both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 6 months to 4 years old. The CDC voted unanimously to recommend that all children in this age category be vaccinated against COVID-19. The Pfizer vaccine is available for children 6 months through 4 years old. It is administered as a 3-dose series, with the first two doses administered 3 weeks apart and the third dose done 8 weeks after the second dose. The Modern vaccine is available for children 6 months through 5 years old. It is administered as a 2-dose series, with the two doses administered one month apart. If the parents have any questions about the vaccine, we recommend they call their pediatrician.

Many pediatricians' offices and pharmacies are awaiting vaccine shipments. Some local pediatric offices are planning to hold vaccinating clinics for existing patients. We also recommend families reach out to their primary care provider to talk to their doctor's office directly.

Lowell Vaccination Clinic Pediatric (6 months+), is a state-sponsored site, which has many open apportionments. Individuals can make an appointment at the Lowell site using this link:  https://vaxfinder.mass.gov/locations/lowell-lowell-vaccination-clinic-pediatric-6-months/
