Town of Marion: Nomination Papers For The May 12, 2023 Town Election

Nomination papers for the May 12, 2023 Town Election are now available in the Town Clerk’s Office (click here to see the open positions highlighted in yellow). The number of signatures required has changed from 20 to 30 based on MGL Chapter 53, Section 6*. Nomination papers are due back in the Town Clerk’s office by Monday March 20 for the signature certification process. *MGL Chapter 53, Section 6 states “… by not less than such number of voters as will equal one percent of the entire vote cast for governor at the preceding biennial state election in the electoral district or division for which the officers are to be elected, but in no event by less than twenty voters in the case of an office to be filled at a town election…” The number of votes cast in Marion for governor at the November 8, 2022 Election was 2813, therefore, the required number of signatures would have been 28.13 which was rounded to 30
