Town of Harvard News : Town Beach water quality remains good - September 3, 2022

From: Town of Harvard
September 7, 2022

On September 2, 2022 the Board of Health received results of a water quality sample collected on August 23, 2022 at the Town Beach. The results indicate no harmful levels of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae).

At this time, all Normal activities are permitted, because:

-Cyanobacteria levels are < 70,000 cells/milliliter (c/mL)

-Water visibility is greater than 4 feet (on Aug 30, 2022, ~65 inches).

The Town Beach water quality monitoring sign (the Dial sign) stays at Green - all activities allowed.

What happens next:

The Board of Health will do one more water quality test this season.  If the cyanobacteria cell counts exceed 70,000 c/mL or water visibility drops below 4 feet, the Board will evaluate issuing a No Swimming Advisory.
