DUXBURY BEACH OPERATIONS
BEACH UPDATE – 12/30/22

Hello Duxbury Beach Patron.  Happy New Year!  Below please find important beach information:

RESIDENT LOT AND CROSSOVERS
The lot is open seven days a week. The crossovers are open 8am - 3:30pm daily, weather and tides permitting.  A valid permit is required year-round to access the over-sand area.

SNOWY OWLS
We are fast approaching the season when our visitors from the north will be arriving. Please make sure you follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the snowy owls.  Do not traverse dunes or vegetation in an attempt to see them. We ask that you stay in and/or very close to your vehicle to take your pictures. Never approach a bird or try to make it fly, they are resting and need to be left alone.

Rangers will be on patrol to ensure folks are in compliance. Tickets will be issued for violations and vehicles parked on the property must have a valid permit.

DUXBURY BEACH RESERVATION – RESTORATION PROJECT
Duxbury Beach Reservation is gearing up to construct a dune and beach restoration project in front of Duxbury Beach Park and Blakeman’s Restaurant, extending south to the Town Resident Parking Lot on Duxbury Beach.  Portions of the project areas are amongst the narrowest sections of the barrier beach.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE COMING WEEKS:

- Blocking off areas for construction staging (be on the lookout for changes in traffic patterns!)
- Removing sand fence and wooden posts along the ocean side and some pathways
- Staking project bounds and creating access paths to the project area
- Hauling and storage of sand on site

SAVE THE DATE: RESTORATION PROJECT PRESENTATION
Event Timing: January 4th, 6:30-8pm
Event Address: Clifford Hall, Duxbury Bay Maritime School, Duxbury

Winter Work Reminders:
A LOT of sand is heading to Duxbury Beach over the next couple of weeks.  With the threat of winter storms and unexpected delays, it is vital that trucks are able to access Duxbury Beach efficiently!

- Access Duxbury Beach via the Powder Point Bridge
- Be prepared for some delays if you must drive on the Duxbury Beach roadway north of the Powder Point Bridge!
- Please respect beach rules and regulations and always park in lots or pull-outs - do not stop or pullover on the back road!
- Stay off of all work equipment and out of restoration areas and staging areas, even when work is not taking place.
