Town Of Dedham - Board of Health News Corner – March 10, 2023

From: Town Of Dedham
March 11, 2023

Below please find Dedham Board of Health updates as of March 10, 2023.

End of COVID-19 Federal Emergencies

The federal emergencies in response to COVID-19 will end on May 11, 2023. The end of these emergencies will affect the federal government’s response to the pandemic. Some changes to COVID-19 responses will include:

-COVID-19 treatment expenses will change based on individual health insurance coverage.

-COVID-19 testing costs will also change based on individual health insurance coverage. Private insurers will no longer be required to cover testing without charge for both lab and over the counter tests. Medicare Part B will cover lab testing ordered by a provider, but over the counter tests will no longer be free. Medicaid testing coverage will continue through September 2024.

-COVID-19 vaccines will be covered through private insurance, Medicare Part B, and Medicaid.

The Board recommends residents check with their health insurance provider to determine how they will be affected by the lifting of the federal emergencies.
