Town of Bridgewater News Discolored Water Issues - February 24, 2023

From: Town of Bridgewater
February 25, 2023

We received word from the Fire Department that hydrants have been turned off.  Please run your COLD water for 5-10 minutes in your tub until the water runs clear.

Due to a major fire on Main Street this morning, you may be experiencing discolored water.  Once the Fire Department close the hydrants, run your COLD water in your tub until it runs clear.

Hydrants have been flushed in all known problem areas.  If you are still experiencing discolored water, please run your cold tap for 5 to 10 minutes.  If this does not resolve the issue, please contact the Water Supply Department at 508-697-0910 or submit a ticket on the Town website's "report a problem" page.     https://www.bridgewaterma.org/FormCenter/Report-a-Problem-15/Report-a-problem-81

The distribution crew is continuing to low flow flush problem areas.  The water has been clearing quickly.  Please run your cold water in the tub for 10 minutes or so to flush the residual.

A message from the Town Manager:

As the Water Department transitions to the new water plant, there will be days when the distribution system will have more discoloration than normal.  Today is one of those days.  Intermittent discolored water will occur for roughly the next six weeks.  After that the water should run much clearer.  Thank you for your patience as we get the new treatment and filtration plant on line.

As a reminder, the Bluedrop machine is available to residents at 151 High Street  for water fill ups.
