Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Closings

The Brewster Town Offices and Brewster Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2023 the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday.

The Brewster Recycling Center will be open Tuesday, January 17, 2023 to alleviate any inconvenience.

Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates Launches 18th Session

The 18th Session of the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates held its first meeting of the new Session on January 4, 2023. Assembly Delegate Mary Chaffee was reelected in November 2022 and was sworn in with other Assembly Delegates at this meeting. The Assembly’s 18th Session will continue until December 2024.

The Assembly of Delegates is the legislative arm of Cape Cod regional government. It was established through the Barnstable County Charter passed by the State Legislature in 1988. Each of Cape Cod’s 15 towns elect an Assembly Delegate every two years. The Board of Regional Commissioners, and County Administrator who leads daily County government activities, form the executive branch of Barnstable County government.

Delegate Chaffee has represented Brewster on the Assembly since 2017. She served as a Navy nurse for 27 years, where she was promoted to the rank of Captain. She holds two bachelors degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a PhD from the University of Maryland Baltimore. Delegate Chaffee graduated from the University of Massachusetts School of Law Dartmouth and was recognized with a Burton Award, a national award for legal writing. She has also served on the Brewster Select Board since 2018.
