Five Year Capital Improvement Plan Published in OpenGov
The Town of Brewster has developed a Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) which identifies proposed capital expenditures on facilities, acquisitions, equipment, infrastructure, and/or projects in excess of $10,000. The plan includes cost estimates, anticipated funding sources, and expected timelines for each capital item. It is updated on an annual basis to reflect current organizational needs, priorities, and capacities.
“In an effort to continue to provide our residents with more information about upcoming projects, we are pleased to announce that the FY23-27 CIP is now available in a new, user-friendly, online format,” said Peter Lombardi, Town Manager. “This initiative is consistent with the Town’s commitment over the past several years to improve accessibility of municipal finances.” Click this link to go to the FY23-27 CIP capital projects homepage.
The Town published its FY23 operating budget on the OpenGov platform last year. The FY24 operating budget will be posted here in February 2023.

Open Burning Season Starts January 15
Open burning season in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts begins on January 15, 2023 and ends on May 1, 2023. To safely conduct an open burn of brush residents must first obtain a permit from the Brewster Fire Department.
In Person Purchase
Permits may be purchased in person at Fire/Rescue Headquarters 1671 Main Street Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The fee for in person permits is $10.00
Permits will not be sold in person on weekends and/or holidays
On-Line Purchase
Permits may be purchased on-line through the Towns permit portal at https://brewsterma.viewpointcloud.com/ In addition to the $10.00 fee permit there is a service charge to use the electronic payment system as follows:
$1.29 Credit Card Fee
$.50 Electronic Check Fee
Residents will be required to call into the department’s automated burn line daily to inquire if burning is being permitted based on local weather conditions and to provide the department with the permit number and location of the burn. Commonwealth of Massachusetts open burning regulations can be found on the permit.
Brewster Fire/Rescue retains the right to suspend burning during unacceptable weather conditions and revoke the permits of those individuals violating open burning regulations. We respectfully request all residents take the time to read the safety precautions and rules regarding open burning and to be considerate of your neighbors and the environment when conducting these fires.
