Dear Reader,

As we kick off the unofficial start to our busy summer season with Memorial Day this weekend, please take a moment to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.

The 18th Annual Cape Cod Cares for the Troops event is an all-volunteer non-profit started in 2004 by then 11-year-old Dylan DeSilva. Since then, more than 41,000 care packages have been shipped. The Opening Ceremony is at 11:30 AM on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

The Centerville Civic Association will present a Memorial Day Observance that will begin at noon Monday at the Centerville Recreation Building parking lot and proceed along Main Street to Memorial Square at the corner of Park Street and Main. Wreaths will be placed on the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Afghanistan/Iraq memorials.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to classify Barnstable County as being at a high community risk level. The following prevention steps are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
-Wear a mask indoors in public, particularly if you are at high risk for severe illness; or if you have a household contact or in social contact with someone at high risk for severe disease;
-Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines;
-Get tested if you have symptoms;
-Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness

Please respect individual businesses and venues that may still require masking or other protocols to keep their patrons and staff safe. Also stay up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccinations, and get tested if you have any symptoms. We encourage you to follow the health guidelines at www.BarnstableHealth.com.

Every household can order eight (8) more free COVID-19 tests. Testing helps you find out if your allergy or cold-like symptoms are from COVID. They also help to protect vulnerable people if you test before gathering. https://t.co/oWdSIErcdC
