Juneteenth is now a national holiday. While the official holiday is June 19th, this year it is observed on June 20th as the holiday falls on a weekend.

We would be remiss if we didn’t wish all of the fathers, and those who take on the responsibility of fatherhood or who are like a father, a wonderful day on Sunday. Thank you for all you do all year round! The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce Car Show is excited to be bringing the Annual Father's Day Car Show back to Main Street Hyannis! The event will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 2 PM.

Congratulations to the Barnstable High School students who presented Student Civic Action Projects on Wednesday, June 15th as part of the work they have done throughout the year. Thank you to Virginia Turner (Curriculum Coordinator for History, Social Sciences, and Business Grades 6-12) who filled us in on this exciting day. The future is bright for these young people who researched and provided thoughtful solutions to issues they see in their day-to-day life at BHS.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to classify Barnstable County as being at a medium community risk level. The following prevention steps are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
-Wear a mask indoors in public, particularly if you are at high risk for severe illness; or if you have a household contact or in social contact with someone at high risk for severe disease;
-Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines;
-Get tested if you have symptoms; and
-Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.

Earlier this week, FDA advisors voted unanimously to recommend authorizing COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as 6 months to under 5 years old. Next, the FDA and the CDC need to authorize the vaccine.

Please respect individual businesses and venues that may still require masking or other protocols to keep their patrons and staff safe. Also stay up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccinations, and get tested if you have any symptoms. We encourage you to follow the health guidelines at www.BarnstableHealth.com.
