Wild turkeys are everywhere! The population has exploded in Massachusetts in recent years, to the point where wild turkeys have made their homes in our suburbs and cities. Their presence has had a polarizing effect on our community—some welcome them, others would prefer they disappear. Turkey Town is a documentary short that explains the comeback of the wild turkey population in Massachusetts and explores the social and environmental consequences, both positive and negative, of their return.

The Library is delighted to present a screening of Turkey Town, followed by a Q&A with local filmmaker Aynsley Floyd and ornithologist and author Scott Weidensaul. And we're pleased to announce an additional panelist: wildlife biologist Jim Cardoza! You can visit our website to learn more about all of the panelists.

Digitized Special Collections
Brookline Annual Reports
For those visiting our local history page on the website, you will notice we have a new addition to digitized material! The town's annual reports from 1846-2017 are now accessible via the Internet Archive. All patrons can search town annual reports, street listings, high school yearbooks, a selection of photographs and manuscripts. Our big project over the last few years has focused on digitizing Brookline newspapers, which have just been updated with the run from 1960-1980 this past week! If you have any research projects and you're wondering what else we might have, please contact our archivists.
