Scituate Town Library Newsletter
Director's Corner

It’s like homecoming at the library all summer long! After two years of a hiatus in our Summer Reading Kick-Off parties and our Summer Concert Series, we’re bringing them all back in the biggest of ways! Our Summer Reading Kickoffs are a great way to get your summer going and encourage your kids to dive into their summer reading. We all know about the “summer slide”, but did you know that kids and teens who don’t read over the summer can lose as much as 2-3 months of reading proficiency, while kids who keep reading can gain at least a month of proficiency? What better way to get them excited than to join our reading program! Read for Beads, raffles for adults and teens, and a full slate of summer programming is what's in store for July and August!

We also want to make sure to give a very special thank you to our Friends of the Scituate Town Library, who are this year celebrating 50 years of love and support for the library! The Friends fund all library programming, and their dedicated service is what allows the library to offer so much to the community. This year, they were able to raise money to fund the entire Summer Concert Series, which will take us around the world by way of music! Thanks to the Friends of the Library and to our generous underwriters—ABC Reading, Karen Mullin of Coldwell Banker, King Jeweler, the Scituate Education Foundation, and Situate Chair. We could not have done this without you! So, grab your picnic basket, pack a blanket, and head over to our lawn on Wednesdays starting on July 6th!

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
