Putts & Pints: Mini Golf at the Library!

Our March mini golf fundraiser was one big par-tee!

On Friday, March 24th we welcomed over 150 people into the library for a mini golf bonanza! Friends came together and played a round of 18 inside the library, ate delicious Goldie’s Rotisserie food, drank beer and wine, and most importantly, enjoyed themselves.

Tech Support: One on One

Saturdays 10:00-2:00 (4/1, 4/8, 4/22, 4/29) *no session on 4/15*

Get personalized one-on-one technology assistance with the help of our staff. Call or email to book your free session now! Sessions last between 30 minutes to an hour. If the scheduled times don't work for you, simply contact Junior to find a more convenient time that works for you.

Known as Casino dancing in Cuba, this class will explore basic rhythms and movements of this style and related styles, as well as touch on history and culture. No partner necessary. Class size is limited to 15 attendees and registration is required.

Walk With Us

Wednesdays 8:15am

Join us for a walk around East Chop! We'll start at the library's Pacific Avenue entrance at 8:15am. We'll walk up Pacific Avenue, continue to Washington Park (near Our Market), then continue past the beach club and around the Chop.

Walk is approximately 4 miles and will take about an hour and a half. Ground is mainly flat, but can be uneven in sections so it is not fully wheelchair accessible. Weather dependent.

Fix It Clinic

Do you have items in need of repair? A hole in your sock? A toaster that won't pop? Bring it down to our Fix It Clinic, and we'll try to repair it together. Encouraging our community to mend, reuse and recycle our items, bring the broken back to life, and create less waste. Please bring any parts, tools, or materials you already own that might be helpful in repair! No registration required.

Try Your Hand at Sign,
ASL Class with Dr. Cripps

The MV Signs Then & Now project in collaboration with Oak Bluffs Library welcomes Dr. Jody Cripps, Deaf ASL professor from Clemson University. Dr. Cripps and his students are working on a collaborative research project to raise awareness of MV's rich sign language history, where deaf and hearing people alike signed together between the late 17th and mid 20th centuries. We are pleased to invite you to meet Dr. Cripps and his students for a Basic ASL experience where you can try your hand at sign language.

Personal Health Narrative

Personal health narratives are powerful tools for self-care and for helping others.

Each participant will receive a custom journal. The goal is to use one or more of the following as an act of self-discovery, self-care, and self-expression: Manifestos, Personal essays or experiences, Collages of images and text captions, Sketches or comics, Poetry

Already created some of this? Come in and add to it! Starting fresh? We’ll have lots of supplies/ resources/ prompts to get you started! Pre Registration required

Online Safety Course

Saturday, April 15th 10:00-11:00

Robin Putnam, Events & Outreach Manager from the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, will present an online safety course. The presentation will include information her office, how to be safe online whether it be on your smart device, social media or online banking, phishing emails, and general protection from scams and identity theft. Registration is encouraged.

Library Friends

Book Drive

Saturday, April 15th 10:00-2:00

Donate your good-to-excellent condition used books to stock the annual Library Friends of Oak Bluffs Book Sale, which funds Library programs all year long. We are asking for recent (published in the last 5 years) adult, young adult, and children’s books, fiction and nonfiction. Reference books like travel guides or technical books should be current or reference books like medical guides should be published in the past three years. Bibles, readers digest, encyclopedias, dictionaries, DVDs, CDs and puzzles and pocket paperbacks are not accepted (as a rule these items do not sell).

The Friends reserve the right decide not to accept these material.

Candle Making

Women’s Work Discussion Panel: Women in Business

The MV Agricultural Society, the Farm Institute, MV Museum, and the Oak Bluffs Library are collaborating to host a series of panels about the experiences of women in traditionally male-dominated fields. This is the second event in this series and will highlight the experiences of women business owners in a facilitated conversation. Snacks and refreshments will be provided!
