Lesbian Life in Boston: 1910-1920: Thursday, June 9 at 7pm. What was it like to be a lesbian in a world that was not ready to deal with differences? How did lesbians deal with isolation and ostracism? And what was it like to live through the years when men fought to keep women from having the right to vote? Author Ellen Levy will speak to these experiences in an interactive program that is based on the extensive research she did for her historic novel series.

Underwater Tunnel Books: Thursday, June 9 at 7pm. Learn how to put together an underwater themed tunnel book! Tunnel books are part diorama, part pop-up card where different paper cutouts are glued together and layered to create a 3D "book". This design will feature an octopus under the sea! The different paper layers will come pre-cut. You’ll have the opportunity to add extra color with watercolor paint, and assemble the layers to create your book.

Libby/OverDrive, Kanopy, & Hoopla: Friday, June 10 at 11am. Get an introduction to our three most popular library eResources so you can start accessing books, music, movies, and more from home.

The Refugee Experience: Stories from Our Neighbors: Tuesday, June 14 at 7pm. People facing humanitarian catastrophes in their native countries have sought refuge in the United States throughout history. Join us for a panel discussion with neighbors whose families were forced to leave Austria, Cambodia and Haiti. These individuals will speak about their countries of origin, their families’ exodus and their adjustment to the U.S. This program is cosponsored by Historic Newton.
