Is About To Begin!

Join us for the Summer Reading Kick-Off on June 25th, then come back for more fun programs all summer long!

FOR ADULTS

Earn badges by doing fun activities, helping the community, attending library programs, utilizing library services and, of course, reading!  Starts June 25th!

Bring your embroidery project and a chair (or picnic blanket) and come hang out with us on the lawn in front of Building #2. Bri will have supplies if you need them, and can also teach you how to embroider if you don't know how yet!  You do not need to register for this program, but email Bri at bozanne@minlib.net to get on the mailing list for weather related scheduling updates, or if you have any questions.

The Princeton Review is here to help you ace your SAT's!  There will be an information table at the library on July 12th & 13th, 2:30-4:30PM.  An SAT Strategy Session will be held at the library Wednesday, July 27th at 6PM.  There will then be a virtual SAT Practice Test on Saturday, July 30th at 10AM.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE STRATEGY SESSION AND VIRTUAL PRACTICE TEST!

The Common Application gives you a lot of opportunities to tell your story in a way that admissions directors will find compelling. We don’t like to have missed opportunities on an application, so we’ll go through each part of the Common App and show you where you can inject your personality and where you can protect your shortcomings. We’ll also share how admission officers use the information you give them to make admission decisions.

Christina has worked in selective college admissions for thirteen years and read thousands of college essays, and now works with students and families to guide them through the application process. Christina will go over tips and tricks for writing the college essay, covering everything from brainstorming strategies to Do's and Don'ts. Christina will also address the nuances of supplemental essays, demonstrated interest, and trends in college admissions during the pandemic.

The pandemic has added a layer of uncertainty to everything, and college admission is no exception. Join us for a discussion on selective college admissions, and how to stand out in the process. Christina will discuss trends in higher education, building your college list, timelines for the college application process, and tips and tricks for best representing yourself to selective institutions. This session will cover demonstrated interest, interviews, essays, Early Decision, Early Action, and more!

We will learn all about the history of zines: self-published books that anyone can make and share. Zines enabled queer and trans people to connect and collaborate years before social media. Many artists still make zines today to share their stories, ideas, and comics!  Together we will learn how to get started making zines. VIRTUAL PROGRAM

August 9th, 6:30-8PM: Youth Pride Zine Workshop
Join us in-person to make your own zines! We will use the skills learned in Abby Neale’s virtual workshop presented on July 26th. You will have the option to display your zines in the Teen Space! No registration required.  IN-PERSON PROGRAM
