Summer Reading Programs

Summer is almost here which means our summer reading programs will be starting soon! We offer summer reading programs to children, teens, and adults. More information can be found on our website closer to the start date.
June Take & Make Kits for Adults and Teens
Kick off this year's summer reading program, Find Your Voice, by picking up a Glass Magnet kit and a Metallic Rock Painting kit in June! Check out our website, Beanstack, and our social media regularly for the schedule and upcoming craft kits including quilling, vision journals, fiber arts, and more.
Boston Harbor Islands Discount Ferry Passes
The Library now offers Boston Harbor Islands Ferry passes for the 2023 season. Tickets are buy one get one free, for up to a total of TWO free tickets. More info and how to reserve here.
Holiday Closure
The Library will be closed on Monday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, June 20 at 10AM.
Upcoming Events
Pack-a-Snack Storytime
Fridays at 10AM
June 2 - August 11
All ages! Bring a blanket and snack. We will read stories under a tree on the library lawn and then provide a fun outdoor activity. If the weather does not cooperate the Storytime will be held inside the library.
Kitty Café
Saturday, June 3 at 10AM
The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society will be here with some cute cats and kittens. Join us for a morning of pets, cuddles, and general cat admiration. Meet some adoptable cats and get answers to all of your kitty questions. Cats… books… what better way to spend your Saturday morning?
Teen Event: GPL Arcade

Come hang as we turn the Library into a gaming paradise! There’s nothing quite like playing the Switch on our giant projector screen!
Reading to a Library Dog
Monday, June 5 at 4PM
Come and read to Aston, a certified therapy dog. Registration is required. This program is designed to help develop reading skills and is recommended for children who want to practice their reading fluency.
Tinker Play Group
Thursday, June 8 at 10AM
Families with children ages 2 and up. Materials will include STEM and sensory items for younger children based on the books Loose Parts by Lisa Daly and Miriam Beloglovsky and other preschool STEM resources. Kids will have an opportunity to explore the materials at their own pace while interacting with their adults and peers.

Join us for adventure! Everything you need to play is provided, all you have to do is show up. All skill levels are welcome. Max 6 players per session, first come, first served.
A History of Libraries In The Bay State

Massachusetts author and historian Alan Earls will present a slideshow and discussion of some of the important milestones, architectural gems, and key figures in this story as well as an overview of just how richly endowed we are with libraries of all kinds today. Register online.
Explore Massachusetts - Off the Beaten Path

Author Maria Olia will discuss her brand new book, Massachusetts Off the Beaten Path. Discover some of Massachusetts’s unique offerings with this guide: Visit a wooden-boat shop that has been in business since 1793; admire the pressed-glass galleries at the Sandwich Glass Museum, or travel back in time at the nineteenth-century Old Sturbridge Village. The Story of Route 1 in Maine, New Hampshire & Massachusetts

Author Susan Mara Bregman will give a presentation based on her new book, Along Route 1: Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. New England road trippers will encounter roller coasters and candlepin bowling, lobster rolls and homemade pie, colonial-era taverns and granite fortifications. Register online.
Vehicle Day
Thursday, June 22 from 10AM-12PM
Come and explore the town vehicles on the lawn. There will be police cars, fire trucks, bucket trucks and much more! Maple Street will be closed. We recommend parking at the Georgetown Middle/High School and walking over. If it is raining, this program will be canceled.
Yo-Yo Show
Monday, June 26 at 6PM
Help us officially kick off our summer reading program and join us for a fun filled Yo-Yo show on the library lawn! Bring something to sit on and enjoy.

50+ Job Seekers Networking Group
January to June 2023
More than 60 Massachusetts public libraries have partnered to offer this program to support people fifty years and older looking for a new job, a new career direction, or a Second Act career.
