FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Happy New Year 2023!

At the beginning of a new year many people make a list of New Year’s resolutions. One of the best resolutions (big plug coming up) would be to visit the Friends of the Ames Free Library Book Room regularly and enjoy reading some of our great books.

People have mixed emotions about the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. Some believe that is a good idea to resolve to improve their lives. Great satisfaction can come from achieving a goal. Some believe that people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they cannot live up to unrealistic expectations.

Whatever you decide to do is up to you. Just make sure that your resolutions have reasonable goals. Good luck and don’t feel bad if it does not work out. Remember, like we New Englanders say about the Red Sox, “there’s always next year.”
