From the Director:

Dear Library Friends and Followers,

I'm sitting here at the start of this new month thinking about memories. So many of you have built memories here at the library--recent memories from this wonderful summer, memories of growing up and visiting here as we grew and changed and stayed the same. It is our joy to be a part of your memories and of your future plans and dreams.

From the prosaic and necessary (hello RMV forms!) to the wildest reaches of story and creativity, we are honored to be a part of your lives.

In the words of the late, great, Maurice Sendak, '...I am devoted to being an artist and a person who reads books for the rest of my live, however long I have.'

If you would like to be part of the lives of some new friends in your community, please join us on Thursday, September 7th, at 4pm for an Info Session with Easthampton Neighbors, a local non-profit that matches volunteers with senior members to provide friendly and personal support of a kind not available through other organizations.

Maybe you'd like some friendly and personal support of your own? Join our wonderful volunteer Kat for Tech Help: The Libby App on Saturday, September 16, 10am-12pm. Over the next few months, Kat will offer Saturday tech help sessions on a variety of themes. This time, they'll help with Libby App setup, questions and troubleshooting. Make our audiobook and ebook collections work for you! Request an appointment at tinyurl.com/tech-help-kat.

Love birds? You're in luck. Our month wraps up with two exciting bird and ecology themed events led by community members. First, join Nancy Stenberg on September 22 at 4pm for Backyard Birding for Everyone, an all ages program for avid birders and the newbie bird-curious alike.
Next, on September 26, 6:30-7pm, join local musician and biologist Leah Nichole to learn about Project 'Birdsong' and her 'Musical Microlife Series' The Quiet-Loud Machine: Giving Voice to a Biodiverse Landscapethrough music, storytelling and art. Ages 8-108 welcome.

Sit and Write with local author Seth Harwood is now meeting weekly on Wednesdays, 10am-12pm. Join fellow writers to meet, say hello, and then sit for three 25-minute quiet writing sessions. This event is open to writers of all ages, genres, and levels.
In addition to this robust multi-generational lineup, September also looks great for kids, teens, and families down in the Youth Department. From our Back To School Family Book Celebration on September 8th to the return of many popular programs such as Baby & Toddler Storytime, Brick Builders and Pokemon Clubs, we're here to support the start of school and the beginning of your fall routines.

For our full lineup of September activities, check out our Calendar. We'll see you soon at the Library!
