The Westborough Economic Development Committee (EDC) invites businesses to participate in the 2022 Westborough "Winter Stroll" event on Sunday, November 27th,
from 2-5PM. Read more for details.
For the event, local businesses invite guests into their storefronts and offer something fun and enticing to get their foot in the door, such as an activity (e.g., face-painting, tattoos, karaoke, arts and crafts), free sample, or a sale or promotion. This is an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their storefronts to the community ahead of a busy holiday season by enticing new customers to stop by and explore their goods or services. Aided by their own cars and a few shuttle buses to get around town, the community "strolls" local businesses throughout the day, leading up to the Light Parade and eventually the Tree Lighting at dusk. This event has been a great marketing opportunity for participating businesses, and it's also a good way to give back and to plant your roots deeper into the Westborough community.
Generally, participating businesses can expect between 50-200 guests throughout the event; although, foot traffic can vary tremendously based on a variety of factors, such as the business location, weather conditions, and the appeal of the activity, free sample, or deal. In the past, the businesses that attract the most foot traffic, regardless of their location, offer something exciting and creative, such as a hands-on activity or a free sample.
This year, the Westborough EDC will host the eighth annual "Winter Stroll" event on Sunday, November 27th, from 2-5PM. We will aim to release the map and list of
participating businesses, as well as the designated bus stops for the event, on Monday, November 14th, 2022. If you're interested in participating, please let us know by filling out the form at the link below, and review the expectations for participating businesses:
- Participating businesses should be open for the entire duration of the event, unless they run out of their activity, free sample, or giveaway, in which case they should tape a handmade sign on their door indicating that.
- Participating businesses should offer some kind of activity, deal, free sample, giveaway or other creating marketing opportunity to guests who visit their storefront during the event. It's an opportunity to paint your own canvas!
- Businesses and guests are expected to take reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- Participating businesses are strongly encouraged to promote the event on social media and through their marketing channels leading up to the event. It's recommended to make at least two posts prior to the event. The more you help us promote the event, the more opportunities the event will create for your business. Please note that #WestboroughWinterStroll is the recommended hashtag.
- Participating businesses are strongly encouraged to print and display a flyer for the event and to print a few copies of the map to handout to guests during the event.
- Participating businesses are encouraged to have marketing and promotional materials ready for the event.
- Participating businesses are encouraged to complete a short feedback survey following the event
