Community Mental Health Series at the Duxbury Free Library

The Duxbury Free Library will be hosting a Community Mental Health Series that will be running from March 23rd to April 24th. Local mental health professionals from organizations such as NAMI Plymouth, South Shore Health, and the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, and BID Plymouth will be speaking on a variety of topics.

On Thursday, March 23rd at 4pm, there will be a Storytime for grades K-3, followed by a family mental health discussion. This program is great for young elementary-age children and their caregivers. Also on the 23rd, at 6:30pm, there will be a talk on “Community Behavioral Health Centers Services For Those in Crisis.” Licensed social worker Pam Bolarinho will be speaking to the newly created CBHC (Community Behavioral Health Center) in Plymouth.

A talk titled “Children and Grief” will be given by Maureen Walsh, the Education Outreach Director at Hope Floats in Kingston, on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30pm. A presentation on “Trauma Response During a Crisis” will be given by Peggy O’Neil File, retired South Shore Hospital Interfaith Chaplain, on Thursday, March 30th at 6:30pm.

In April, licensed social worker Jill Sylvester will be discussing “Social and Emotional Wellness in Times of Crisis” on 4/4 at 6:30pm. Lastly, on Saturday, 4/22 at 3pm, a representative from NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Plymouth will be giving a presentation titled “Roadmap through the Mental Health System in Massachusetts.” There will also be a display at the library called “Watch Me Rise: Poetry, Baking, and Mental Health” from mental health advocate Dayna Atlman.
