Dempsey for State Auditor Campaign Announces Two New Staff Additions

Boston, MA - On June 13th, Chris Dempsey announced that Matthew Gifford and Mike Cusher will be joining his campaign for State Auditor.

Matthew Gifford has been hired as Field Director for the Dempsey for State Auditor Campaign. Matthew most recently worked as the Lead Contracts Coordinator for the Clinton Health Access Initiative. Matthew previously served as the Campaign Manager for Brookline’s Selectperson Bernard Greene’s re-election campaign, and served as an At-Large Director for the Young Democrats of Massachusetts. 

Mike Cusher joins the team as the campaign’s Policy and Communications Director. Mike most recently worked as Legislative Director for Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García. Prior to that he was the Legislative Director for Mass Audubon and worked as a Senior Legislative Assistant and lead environmental staffer for Congressman James P. McGovern.

“I am proud to be adding both Matthew and Mike to my campaign team. After our recent victory at the State Convention, securing the Massachusetts Democratic Party endorsement, we wanted to keep the momentum going by expanding our team and bringing in some incredible talent,” said Dempsey 

Mike is originally from Westborough, Mass and is a 2008 graduate of Westborough High School. He received his B.S. in Environmental Economics and Applied Statistics from UMass Amherst and his M.A. in Environmental Resource Policy and Economics in 2013 from the George Washington University in 2015. 

Matthew is originally from Brookline, Mass and is a 2012 graduate of Brookline High School. He received his B.A. in Political Science and Government from McGill University in 2016.
