City Of Melrose - Renew Your Dog's License by March 15

From: City Of Melrose
March 11, 2023

In accordance with Mass General Laws and Melrose City Ordinances, all dogs who reside in Melrose must be licensed and receive a rabies vaccination

The Melrose Clerk’s Office would like to remind community members that if you haven’t already done so, please purchase your pup’s 2023 dog license before March 15. Dog licenses are valid for the calendar year.  If renewed by March 15, the fee is $20 for spayed/neutered dogs and $23 for intact dogs. If renewed after March 15, the price increases by $15, to $35 and $38 respectively.

Dog licenses can be renewed in 3 ways:

-In person, at the City Clerk’s Office, on the first floor of Melrose City Hall at 562 Main Street;

-Online, at https://epay.cityhallsystems.com/selection;

-Or by mail to 562 Main Street, Attn. City Clerk’s Office.Required documents include:

-A copy of your dog’s current rabies certificate;

-The completed renewal form/dog license application, which was mailed with your yearly census form; and

-Payment ($20 for spayed/neutered dogs or $23 for intact dogs) made out to the City of Melrose.

Why it’s important to renew your dog’s license:

-Dog licenses help us return your pet to you quickly;

-They ensure that all dogs are vaccinated against rabies; and

-As required by state law, all dogs over the age of 6 months in the city of Melrose need to be licensed annually.

For those who may have suffered the loss of their pet, we are so sorry. Losing a pet who has brought so much joy and become such an important part of your family is hard. We know it can be a difficult call to make but would appreciate notification so we may update the database.
