City Of Melrose - Council On Aging Seeking Snow Angel Volunteers This Winter

From: City Of Melrose
November 26, 2022

The Melrose Council on Aging is seeking high school students and adults to join its Snow Angels program, which pairs volunteers with older adults and adults with disabilities who need full assistance in shoveling their driveways and walkways for the duration of the winter season.

The Snow Angel program is designed to ensure community members, specifically older adults and adults with disabilities, can safely leave their homes during the snowy months to get groceries, receive care, and avoid social isolation. Snow Angels are paired with a nearby neighbor and shovel their driveway and/or walkways after a snowstorm. Volunteers are matched to the greatest extent possible with neighbors who live nearby.

Due to the increased demand for Snow Angels this year, the program is seeking both high schoolers and adult volunteers to support all older adults and adults with disabilities who have signed up to receive snow removal support for the 2022-2023 winter season.

To volunteer, or if you know of an adult who would benefit from this program, please contact Rachael Cordella at the Melrose Council on Aging at (781) 665-4304.

A CORI check is required for participation if you are 18 years of age or older.  This process requires an in-person original CORI form and a copy of the volunteer's ID.
