Lifelong Malden resident Maureen McGaffigan turned 80 years young on November 26th. Mayor Gary Christenson stopped by Pearl Street Station to join her family celebration and issue her a citation in recognition of her milestone birthday. Maureen has been very involved in the community through her participation in many organizations including Zonta, Bike to the Sea, The Irish American Women’s Auxiliary and the Malden Democratic City Committee. Most impressive is her 50 plus years she dedicated to nursing both as a school nurse and a member of Malden’s Board of Health. When Mayor Christenson asked Maureen what her secret was for such a long and happy life, she said that the love of family keeps her young.
