City of Framingham : Mayor Announces New Vision for Framingham Farmers Market - Summerseason to open June 23

From: City of Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, MA--Mayor Charlie Sisitsky is pleased to announce that a revitalized weekly Framingham Farmers Market, envisioned as a community gathering place for shoppers and evening diners, will open for the season on Thursday, June 23, on the Framingham Centre Common.

The revised hours of 3-7pm will accommodate residents’ workday schedules. At least one food truck has indicated it will open for business at 12pm to serve lunch, as well.

The Mayor’s Office is taking on management of the Farmers Market, following two years of outstanding efforts by volunteer managers Tom Hanson and Doug Stephan.

In addition to envisioning the market as a community gathering place, the Mayor has taken steps to ensure that vendor participation is affordable by waiving all vendor fees for the 2022 season.

Some of the participating vendors include:

Farms

-Heavens Harvest Farm  –  certified organic Heavens Harvest vegetables; also offering all-organic meats, baked goods and eggs from other central Massachusetts Farms

-Wild Robbins Farm  –  meats, pasture-raised poultry, eggs, and a selection of prepared items

Food trucks

-Cousins Maine Lobster

-Kona Ice

-Eloti Mexican Street Corn

Baked goods

-Nana’s Best – baking mixes, including gluten-free

-Bicki’s Bakery – cupcakes

-Uncle Joey’s Cannolis  – cannolis

Non-food products

-Maggie Ruth Herbals – naturally dyed apparel, herb products

-Organic Finish – organic skin and hair-care products

Vendor applications are still being accepted. Contact Market Manager Bill Sell at farmersmarket@framinghamma.gov

The mayor extends his deep appreciation to Framingham Farmers Market founder Jackie Meninno, who managed the undertaking as a sole proprietorship for years and generously shared her input with the mayor’s staff, as well as Hanson, Stephan, and Tara Murphy, who similarly have provided guidance.
