The Office of Grants and Research (OGR) announced the award to the Easthampton Police Department in the amount of $30,000.00 for the FY 2023 Municipal Road Safety (MRS) Grant Program.

The Office of Grants and Research (OGR) made up to $5,000,000 available in FY 2023 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) grant funding. These grants are available to provide police departments substantial flexibility in addressing local traffic safety issues, allowing funding beyond enforcement to include equipment options and developing novel traffic safety programs. The goal is to support traditional enforcement activities and develop new strategies to reduce roadway crashes, injuries, fatalities, and associated economic losses in Massachusetts.

“The Easthampton Police Department is pleased to once again collaborate with the Municipal Road Safety (MRS) Program. These grant funds will be utilized to enforce a variety of Easthampton traffic concerns, including distracted driving, driving under the influence, speeding, and pedestrian safety. This competitive grant will assist EPD’s Traffic Division in our continual efforts in keeping our roadways and community safe!” said Chief Alberti.

The City of Easthampton sincerely thanks the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security Office of Grants and Research for making this possible.
