Federal Grants

Department of Labor, 6/10/2022
Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations grants provide technical assistance to employers and labor unions by 1) Developing pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, or other nontraditional skills training programs; 2) Providing ongoing orientations or other resources for employers, unions, and workers on creating a successful environment for women; and/or 3) Setting up support groups, facilitating networks, and/or providing supportive services for women to improve their retention. Awards range from $350,000 to $750,000.

Department of Labor, 7/1/2022
Fostering Access, Rights, and Education grants will build on the successes of recent promising initiatives to enlist trusted messengers and community groups to reach working women. Awards range from $250,000 to $350,000.

Bureau of Justice Assistance, 7/12/2022
Community-based Approaches to Prevent and Address Hate Crimes grants will support work by tribal organizations, nonprofits, for-profits, and academic-based institutions to 1) prevent hate crimes; 2) promote community awareness, resiliency, preparedness, and healing; 3) increase victim reporting of hate incidents; and 4) improve responses to hate crimes. Max award: $300,000.

National Archives & Records Administration, 8/4/2022
Seeking archival projects that engage the public, expand civic education, and promote understanding of the nation’s history, democracy, and culture from the founding era to the present day. Max award: $150,000 over two years.

State Grants

Massachusetts Housing Partnership + Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency

The Massachusetts Homeowner Assistance Fund is available for homeowners who are behind on their mortgage payments because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of HAF is to prevent foreclosures and displacements of eligible homeowners.

Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, 5/24/2022
The Community Reinvestment Grant ($10,000) will support nonprofit programming designed to prevent youth violence or substance use disorder or substance use treatment in Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop. 

Office of the State Treasurer and Receiver General, 5/31/2022
A Request for Information is issued to elicit the advice and best analysis of knowledgeable persons and entities in the vendor community to enable the State Treasury, the State Lottery Commission and the state School Building Authority to inform the development of a possible RFR or RFQ for a Disparity Study.

MassDevelopment, 6/3/2022
Grants support innovation centers, incubators, makerspaces, artists’ spaces, collaborative kitchens, and co-working spaces to accelerate the pace of new business formation, job formation, and entrepreneurial activity in communities. Awards range from $15,000 to $100,000.
Please note that municipal support letters are not required for this grant application.

Arts and Culture, 5/27/2022
Boston-based artists are invited to apply to the PaintBox Program, to paint utility boxes located in neighborhoods across the city. This opportunity is open to all artists at least 18 years of age, with a strong preference for artists who currently live, work, or organize in Boston. High interest in artists who are new to PaintBox. Budget: $200 advance, $300 upon completion; $500 total.

Office of Workforce Development, 5/31/2022
The Summer Learn & Earn Program is a unique opportunity for rising high school juniors and seniors in Boston to earn money while taking college-level courses. 

Treasury Department, 5/31/2022
Small Grants are provided for 1) Charitable and humane purposes; 2) Summer field trips for children to nature areas; 3) Special or new recreation for Bostonians; 4) Recreational areas for children; 5) To adorn and embellish Boston's streets and public spaces. Grants range from $500 to $2,000. Applicants must be nonprofits or community organizations partnering with 501c3 fiscal agents or the City of Boston.

Black Male Advancement, 6/3/2022
Funding priorities: Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship; Youth Development & Mentoring;  Civic Organizing. Awards range from $2,500 to $7,500. Specific conditions apply. 

Age Strong Commission, 6/8/2022
Requesting proposals for a holistic and comprehensive solution to assess, intervene, and treat hoarding disorder including on-site assessment, crisis case management, individual and family counseling, decluttering and clean-out services.

Office of Civic Organizing, 6/10/2022
Love Your Block mini-grants fund projects that bring community groups together to improve their neighborhoods. The max award of $3,500 comes with additional city services.

Foundation Grants

Community Care Corps, 5/23/2022 to 7/8/2022
Requests proposals for innovative local models in which volunteers assist family caregivers or directly assist older adults or adults with disabilities with non-medical care to maintain their independence. Awards range from $30,000 to $200,000.

Emerald Necklace Conservancy, 5/27/2022
The Committee of Neighborhoods, in partnership with the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, has launched the Olmsted Now Parks Equity and Spatial Justice Grant. Five grants at $20,000, five  grants at $10,000 and 10 grants at $5,000. Each grant is intended to explore ideas of “parks equity” into strategic action.”

Women’s Sport Foundation, 5/31/2022
Move Together grants (up to $10,000) support organizations that provide sport, fitness and movement-based programming for girls and women.

The Lewis Prize for Music, 6/3/2022
Accelerator Awards are open to Creative Youth Development music organizations seeking to influence youth-serving systems so all young people have access to learning, creating, and performing experiences that reflect their culture and identity.  Multi-year awards of $500,000 each will be awarded in January 2023. By applying for the Accelerator Awards, organizations are also eligible for grants ranging from $15,000 to $50,000.

Mellon Foundation + Flamboyan Foundation, 6/13/2022
The  Letras Boricuas Fellowship was designed to identify, elevate, and amplify the voices of Puerto Rican writers who have continued their practice while enduring natural disasters, political turmoil, and limited funding opportunities. Twenty Fellows will receive unrestricted grants of $25,000 each, in addition to a 2023 convening in Puerto Rico. Fellowship applicants must be 21 or older, currently residing in either Puerto Rico or the US, and have Puerto Rican heritage. 

Venturous Theater Fund, 6/15/2022
The Venturous Capital grant supports the production of bold, experimental, and/or large-scale new plays at not-for-profit theaters by funding specific extraordinary costs. Support is limited to small- and medium-sized theaters. Awards range from $5,000 to $30,000.

Bank of America Charitable Foundation, 6/24/2022
Funding priorities: .Affordable Housing, Small Business, and Neighborhood Revitalization. Awards range from $2,500 to $50,000, depending upon market size.
