This hands-on Story Time program is geared for curious and tenacious 4-5 year olds. Children will participate in different activities that provide room to explore concepts presented in the stories through STEAM activities. Registration is required as space is limited.

Traditional Rug Hooking Class

In this hands-on class offered by the Wachusett Mountain Chapter of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists, participants will receive all the materials and instruction to create their own small, decorative pumpkin mat. You'll have the opportunity to experience various types of hooking frames, see examples of large intricate rugs, and learn more about this traditional textile craft. Ages 16+; registration is required as supplies are limited.
Life-size Clue in the Library

Play the classic board game Clue in life size! The game board is the entire library and you are the players. Figure out who, what, and where the killer is in a fun library themed game of Clue! For ages 12-18. Registration required.
Trick-or-Treat at Town Hall
Tuesday, Oct. 24, 11am-12pm
Join us at the Hillside for a morning of Trick-or-Treating! Children six and younger are invited to collect treats from stations hosted by town employees. The last stop will be the Police Station for more treats and a brief safety talk. Families are welcome to linger and socialize at the playground at the end of this event. Registration is required for headcount purposes at Boylstonparks.org. This event is free.

Why Are We American?

Join us for a small jaunt through 200 years of American colonial history! In this interactive discussion we'll examine how a few small groups of people removed themselves from Europe to the unknowns of the North American continent and created a society and country. We'll learn some little-known factual contexts, and we'll question how we became what we are today: Did the Pilgrims matter? Why was Jamestown different? Why did France want to help a bunch of yahoo upstarts in the middle of nowhere? When did the American Revolution start and end? Why was Massachusetts Bay such a hotbed of change? Have we left a mark on the world? Come prepared with an agile mind and a lot of questions!
Bill Rose was born in Massachusetts and grew up in Natick. He has a degree in chemistry from Brown University and a Masters in Business from Harvard. He had the privilege to serve as a naval officer during the Vietnam War from 1971 through 1976. His business career includes 15 years of computer startups, 10 years of entrepreneurship in manufacturing and 10 years of turning around struggling companies. As an avocation he has spent 30 years trying to understand the way we became the United Staes of America. Working with Veterans and addressing the issues of PTS and Traumatic Brain Injury occupies the balance of his time, through the support of his wife and children. This event is free and open to the public, and any proceeds from the program are being donated to Home Base, a nonprofit organization for veteran support.
