Join us for this hands-on Story Time program geared for you curious and tenacious four to five year olds. Children will participate in different activities that provide room to explore concepts presented in the stories through STEM activities. Facts and Snacks: India

Wednesday, Mar. 8, 4-5pm

Today is Holi, a colorful, spring Hindu Holiday. Let's learn about Holi and India while we sample some snacks from the country! We'll try 5 different snacks: Chekaralu (a super crunchy cracker with a cumin kick), Nice (coconut flavored sugar cookies) Bourbons (a dark chocolate flavored sandwich cookie),  Tikka Masala corn chips, and creamy pistachio flavored candies. Please be aware that some of the snacks may be spicy, but water and sweet snacks will be presented as well. Snacks will be given in sample size, so this shouldn't interfere with dinner! Ages 8 and up; registration required.

Do you love reading Manga, or trying cool snacks from other countries? Ages 12-18 can come to the library tonight to eat some Japanese snacks and check out some Japanese Manga books. Registration required.

Deep Relaxation Response With Love and Gratitude

Native Plants for New England Gardens

Mark Richardson will provide an informative, in-depth lecture on the importance of native plants in supporting ecosystems, and how to choose the right plants for your particular piece of paradise. Join us in the library or tune in online for this live program. 

Mark Richardson is Director of Horticulture for New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill Botanic, where he oversees the horticulture and horticulture outreach staff and serves as chair of the garden’s sustainability committee. Prior to joining the staff at Tower Hill, Mark served as Botanic Garden Director for Native Plant Trust, where he oversaw Garden in the Woods and Nasami Farm native plant nursery. He has a passion for ecological horticulture and native plants and is co-author of Native Plants for New England Gardens (Globe Pequot, 2018).

Artist Meet and Greet: Brenda Caldwell

Saturday, Mar. 18, 12-3pm

Drop in to the Library to meet this month's artist, Brenda Caldwell. Visitors can enjoy some light refreshments while Brenda walks them through her exhibit,The Mystery of What You See, which tells stories intertwined in nature and beauty. Brenda loves talking about her process and the artistic results she produces in acrylics and Chinese Brush Painting, also known as Sumi-E or Black Ink Painting.
