Drop by the library for all of your basic technology needs! Our librarians will help you learn about using your computers, smart phones, tablets, or other devices. If you need assistance using library apps, searching the library databases, or creating any of your own accounts, we're here for you! Stop by any time between 3-6pm. Autism Awareness with Author Jennifer Brunton - Hybrid Event

Co-author of the books The #ActuallyAutistic Guide to Advocacy, Five Brain Leadership, and the upcoming The #ActuallyAutistic Guide to Key Transitions to Adulthood, Jennifer Brunton, Ph.D, will discuss her work and activism. Brunton's book, The #ActuallyAutistic Guide to Advocacy, asks readers to take an in-depth look at the key elements of effective, respectful, inclusive advocacy and allyship. #ActuallyAutistic was first established in 2011with an active Tumblr group to help connect the autistic community! Over the years it has become a tag representing a place for the community to be open, comfortable and safe. Every topic of Brunton's book was chosen, shaped, and informed by #ActuallyAutistic perspectives.
Brunton holds a doctorate in sociology from Columbia University, where she was a fellow throughout her many years of graduate school. She then spent 10 years teaching ethics, bioethics, religion, and philosophy at the Community College of Vermont, while working as a freelance editor on Fulbright proposals and academic books. As a neurodivergent parent of an Autistic son and a neurotypical daughter, Jennifer is passionate about making the world a better place for people who think, learn, and experience life in unique ways. Her parenting blog, Full Spectrum Mama, has been advancing civil rights for all—with a focus on neurodiversity and intersectionality—for more than 10 years. Kid’s Craft: Origami Frog Game
Thursday, Apr. 13, 4-5pm
In today's after-school craft session, we'll create a fun game to play! We'll use origami paper folded into frog shapes that can be made to jump from lily flower to lily flower, accumulating points to win! Please note: We will be folding the frogs, so it would be helpful if your child has good hand control, or help from a guardian. Ages 7 and up; registration required.
Meet Your Neighbor Series - Bed Turning: Quilts with Francie Johnson
Thursday, Apr. 13, 6:30-7:30pm
“Bed turning” is a unique way of telling the stories and histories of quilts. Historically, quilters would host bed turnings as social events to show off their quilts by layering several on a bed. A quilt aficionado with extensive experiences in the quilting world, Boylston neighbor Francie will bring in some of her collection. She invites you to bring any of your pieces for show and discussion. There are many various styles of quilts, and Francie will show us some of the different variations.
Boylston Library's Meet Your Neighbor series showcases local talent, skills, and knowledge while providing an opportunity to get acquainted with various community members. If you know someone local who might want to participate in this ongoing series, please email publiclibrary@boylston-ma.gov
