Closing this Week -Art Exhibit: Barbara Levine
On display at BFL through October 18
Stop by to view Barbara Levine's art show "Here and There," which will be on display at Bacon Free Library through October 18. Barbara paints in oils and in gouache and learned to paint primarily “en plein air” in a New England impressionist tradition, which has been a wonderful adventure for her. Barbara will be donating 10% of any sales to the library.

Learn to Play the Ukulele for Adults

Did you ever want to learn to play the ukulele? The Bacon Free Library is partnering with Bach to Rock in Wellesley to bring you this free program. B2R will teach you the basics of playing the ukulele. This program is geared towards ages 14+. Ukuleles will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have one. Class size limited to 10. Be prepared to laugh, dance, sing, and jam your way through 30 minutes of non-stop family fun on the library lawn! This performance is geared toward kids ages 1–7, but fun for the whole family. If the weather is wet or below 55 degrees, we’ll move indoors and space will be available on a first come, first served basis. Bring your own simple instruments if you can! Opening This Week -Art Exhibit: Elizabeth Cohen
On display at BFL October 20 to December 13
Stop by Bacon Free Library beginning October 20 to view the work of Elizabeth Cohen. Elizabeth is an artist in the Boston area, creating wheel-thrown and altered functional and sculptural work in porcelain, as well as mixed media with natural material such as wasp nest, mushroom spores and mulberry paper. She holds a B.A. in English from Tufts University and a M.A. T. from Simmons College.
Join us for an Art Reception celebrating Elizabeth's exhibit on Tuesday, November 7 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at Bacon Free Library.
Stroll around the beautiful BFL grounds and read Hooray for Birds by Lucy Cousins. Scan the QR code on the last board for the chance to win a free copy of the book!

Local Author Event and Kids' Poetry Workshop

All are welcome to attend a reading by local author and educator Marcie Schwartz of her new picture book, When Someone Deeply Listens to You. The book includes poems by several local children, who will also participate in the reading! Books will be available for purchase at the event. After the reading, kids in grades K-3 are invited to stay for a free poetry workshop with the author. Use your imagination and express yourself in some fun and creative activities! Gothic Victorian Tales by Candlelight

Natick Historical Society and Bacon Free Library welcome Rita Parisi, who has been performing for audiences for over 20 years. Enter the world of 19th century New England writer Sarah Orne Jewett with this theatrical presentation. Meet a family embroiled in a family curse, an odd stranger that comes to a small town, and an old woman who may or may not be immortal.
Hands On Nature: Nature's Real Vampires

Just in time for Halloween, come learn about bats and other real-life spooky creatures, then make a fun craft to bring home. This program is presented by Hands on Nature and is recommended for ages 4 and up. Please visit our website to register.

Join us for some messy fall fun! We’ll have a variety of craft stations, sensory bins, and fine motor activities, all involving pumpkins. Recommended for ages 1-5 with a caregiver. Wear clothes and shoes that can get messy! This program will be outdoors, weather permitting. Due to limited supplies, registration is required.
