Spotted in France

One of our BFL librarians traveling in France right now came across two wonderful sights in Puycelsi, a village of 452 people. One is an old phone booth rehabilitated into a little free library. The other is a book mobile Médiathèque serving 16 villages, which unloads the books in a public room provided by the village and stays the whole day, with mornings reserved for class visits. We love seeing libraries around the world - thank you to our librarian for sharing!

Oldtown Calendars For Sale

2024 Oldtown Calendars are here! Started by The Eliot Church, proceeds from Oldtown Calendars benefit many local organizations, including Bacon Free Library. Calendars are $20 each, available for purchase at the library with cash or check.

Art Exhibit: Elizabeth Cohen

On display at BFL through December 13

Stop by Bacon Free Library beginning October 20 to view the work of Elizabeth Cohen. Elizabeth is an artist in the Boston area, creating wheel-thrown and altered functional and sculptural work in porcelain, as well as mixed media with natural material such as wasp nest, mushroom spores and mulberry paper. She holds a B.A. in English from Tufts University and a M.A. T. from Simmons College.

Museum Passes

The BFL and the Morse have joined forces to provide easy access to reserve museum passes from both libraries on one page. Plan your next weekend adventure! Visit our website to learn more.

Jammin With You

Friday, December 1 at 10:30 am

Be prepared to laugh, dance, sing, and jam your way through 30 minutes of non-stop family fun! This performance is geared toward kids ages 1–7, but fun for the whole family. With modern takes on children’s classics and classic original tunes, you’ll be humming and bopping all the way home. During the colder months, this program is held indoors and registration is required due to space limitations. Please register on our website starting one month before the program.

Carols by Candlelight

Sunday, December 3 at 3:00 pm *at the Natick History Museum

The Natick Historical Society and Bacon Free Library invite you to join us this holiday season to hear Diane Taraz perform a festive setlist of traditional Victorian Christmas carols. Many of our holiday traditions and much of the Christmas music was revived or created during the Victorian era, in the mid 1800’s. Diane will present these beloved carols, together with fascinating stories about their origins as she performs in a hand-sewn 1850’s dress and accompanies herself on guitar and dulcimer. This event takes place in person at the Natick History Museum (downstairs from the Bacon Free Library).

Create Fused Glass Key Rings

Tuesday, December 5 at 5:30 pm

Create your key ring and Deenie will take it to her studio to fire it and send it back to you. Limited to 10 participants ages 12+. Registration required; please visit our website to register.
