2022 Boxford Park Program Update

From: Town of Boxford
June 9, 2022

I’m happy to introduce our new Park Program Director, Meredith Penta.  Meredith is a Masco graduate with over 10 years of experience in the educational field.  She is also a former Division 1 rowing and heptathlon athlete and has experience running summer and sport camps.  We are very excited to have Meredith on board!

As mentioned, the timeframe for planning and coordination is much shorter compared to years past, so modifications or adjustments to the program will be considered to keep the camp safe and successful.  For one, the 2022 Park Program will run for 5 weeks, starting on Tuesday, July 5th.  In addition, working in collaboration with School Administration, we expect the program to be held at the Spofford School this summer.  The program would remain at Spofford School for several years, which will allow time for necessary capital projects to be completed at the Cole School.

On Friday, June 3rd we opened up the application process for hiring staff and counselors.  We are asking all those interested in working at the Park Program this summer to please submit an application by the Monday, June 13th application deadline.  This will help our new Director hire staff as efficiently as possible.  Some candidates may have submitted an application to a privately-managed Boxford Park Program website a few months ago.  We’ve tasked Meredith to conduct a hiring process that typically takes months in just a few weeks.  Even if candidates submitted an application, please resubmit through the Town website so we can track applicants and hire for the July 5th Park Program start efficiently.  Registration for camp participants and CITs should be open this week.  With the short timeframe, we will be hiring staff and accepting camp registrations simultaneously.  We will need to ensure there’s enough staff to run the program safely based on the number of registrants, as well as ensure there’s ample registration fees to fund and staff the program.

Thank you for your patience as we roll out the program under new leadership.
