Providing music lessons for both children and adults, LB Music School teaches voice, guitar, violin, drum and piano. They download their sheet music online, in order to keep their costs affordable. Cambridge Arts Academy, Somerville, MA

Formerly called School of Groove, Cambridge Arts Academy teaches voice, drum, piano and guitar lessons for all ages. Those interested in quarterly recitals may also take part in their Acoustic Vibes series. It is free for all who are registered for lessons. Cambridge Arts Academy was voted No. 1 Music School in 2014, as part of the “Best of Cambridge” Awards.

South Shore Music, Weymouth, MA

Enjoy music lessons on the guitar, piano, violin, mandolin, drums, woodwinds and more at South Shore Music. Available to students of all ages, lessons are held at times convenient to both school-aged children as well as adults. Used instruments are often available to purchase in-house for those who don’t already own one.

Amy Dancz Voice Studio, Boston, MA

In addition to voice lessons, the Amy Dancz Voice Studio also offers lessons in piano and guitar. Available to all ages, as well as all genres and musical abilities, recitals throughout the year are encouraged—but not mandatory—in order to instill in students the love of performing.

School of Rock, Watertown, MA

Kids and adults longing to become that proverbial rock star will love taking guitar lessons at School of Rock. The classes also encourage utilizing vocals for all involved, however voice lessons aren’t currently offered. Stage presence and a rock persona are developed over time, and School of Rock instills a love of both.

Mike’s Monster Guitar, Cambridge, MA

Those longing to play guitars of all kinds can sign up for lessons at Mike’s Monster Guitar in Cambridge. Used gear and equipment is available for purchase on-site, and the teachers have years of experience. Lessons are available for students of all ages.

Scotty’s Mid-Cape Music School, Barnstable, MA

Music students love the lessons at Scotty’s Mid-Cape Music School, and they travel from all over Cape Cod to learn. Choose from guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, strings, piano, voice, drums and music theory. Students of all ages are welcome. Lessons are tailored to all experience levels.

E & J Music, Andover, MA

Take voice lessons at E & J Music. Perhaps you’d rather play an instrument. If so, sign up for woodwind/brass, drum, piano or guitar lessons instead. Student lesson packages save money, as does purchasing an instrument package in-house. Lessons are available for both adults and children.

Stage Music Center, Winchester, MA

Offering private music lessons as well as weekly ensembles for string players, there’s even early learning music group lessons for small children and toddlers at Stage Music Center. Study cello, clarinet, flute, piano, sax, violin, viola, trumpet, ukulele, guitar and voice. The school features open stage each month and recitals throughout the year. Lessons are available for all ages.

Whip City Music, Westfield, MA

At Whip City Music, not only are lessons available, but there are programs that help make used musical instruments affordable. Sign up to learn banjo, bass guitar, clarinet, drums, flute, guitar, mandolin, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, ukulele, viola, violin or voice. The teachers aren’t just experienced in teaching—they’re expert performers in their chosen instruments as well. Lessons are available for all ages, but note that because the call for these lessons is so high, you may be placed on a waiting list, dependent upon which instrument you wish to learn to play.
